Missions
both at home and abroad are deeply rooted into the fabric of New Life. In addition to working with Habitat for Humanity and local food pantries, we have sent missionaries to abroad to Mexico and Nicaragua.
In Mexico we have served with The Presbyterian Border Ministry, a partnership of the Presbyterian Church USA and the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico. Each of the seven border sites has an oversight bi-national committee and a USA coordinator and a MX coordinator. The purpose of the ministry is to create churches along the border and to bring mission teams to that border to share and stretch the faith of both sides. We worshiped together, had medical missions, did educational programs, and enjoyed recreation. We built churches, community centers, and homes as mission teams working along side our Mexican brothers and sisters. Through the Border Ministry New Life became connected with and helped support one young Mexican man through seminary, and is now helping support the Juventud con Vision (Youth with Vision) Orphanage.
Within the next year we are planning a mission team trip to the orphanage which is on the western edge of Ciudad Juarez across from El Paso, TX.

New Life is also involved in Nicaragua, where Presbyterian Pastor and Missionary Jim Hornsby and his wife, Sarah, began a ministry of Young Life in Matagalpa, Nicaragua in the early 1980s. La Vida Joven (Young Life) now has over 20 clubs in most of central Nicaragua and a camp and conference center called The Farm (La Finca) in the mountains north of Matagalpa. Hundreds of young people have come to know Jesus as their personal Savior through Rev Jim’s and Sarah’s ministry. New Life has taken three mission trips to La Vida Joven and plan to return in the fall of 2010. New Life also sends monthly support to Omar and Rosie Picolo who are the local leaders in Matagalpa, Nicaragua.
